Who will notice the works surreptitiously installed in Rooms of Resonance?
The works of six students in the Drawing Masters of La Cambre and the Beaux-Arts de Liège almost go unnoticed between the walls of Cloud Seven’s new exhibition. They have been skilfully placed in specific corners of the space to create new dialogues with the pieces from Frédéric de Goldschmidt’s collection.
Placed on a window sill, a small framed pastel absorbs the daylight and restores colour in geometric shapes or in muffled touches; a dark sign seeps in free forms on the smooth wall of the gallery’s lightshaft; an anthropomorphic object, carved in wood, dialogues with a spider and a butterfly; under the steps of the stairwell, between two floors, small and almost living
sculptures slip by; along the stairs discreetly, subtle and fine drawn landscapes come to light; between two windows a modest and gentle abstractions reveal the frequency of graphite.
En Stoemelings is a stealth exhibition; an exhibition within another; an atypical and mysterious show.
Mathilda Buche, Solina Denis, Azad Eurdekian, Pablo Harcq, Maëlle Lucas-Le Garrec and Thomas Tavernier present their current research at Cloud Seven.
